Best AI Visibility and GEO Agencies and Tools in 2026: An Independent Comparison

The best AI visibility solution for most brands in 2026 is not one product. It is a monitoring tool to measure where you stand plus a way to earn the third-party coverage AI assistants actually cite. The tools are cheap and easy to compare; the coverage is where budgets go, and where the vendors differ most in what you are buying. This guide puts both in one place, with every price and claim checked on the vendors’ own pages on November 2, 2026, and explains which type of solution fits which type of business, including what to use instead of Linkby if a pay-per-click sponsored-content model is not what you need.

Key takeaways

  • “AI visibility” vendors fall into four categories that do different jobs: monitoring platforms, GEO/AEO agencies, sponsored-content platforms and PR placement services. Comparing a $95-a-month tracker to a six-figure agency retainer is a category error.
  • Monitoring is now a commodity. Peec AI, Otterly, Semrush, Ahrefs, Scrunch, Athena HQ and Rankscale all publish prices, from $17 to roughly $500 a month, and most cover ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI features.
  • Linkby is a pay-per-click publisher platform, not an editorial-authority service: you pay per click (platform floor $1, recommended $2 or more in the US), publishers choose whether to write about you, and disclosure wording is left to the publisher.
  • Agencies selling GEO rarely publish prices; the one that does, Omniscient Digital, starts at $120,000 a year. Most small and mid-sized businesses are better served by a monitoring tool plus a guaranteed placement service.
  • No placement, sponsored or editorial, guarantees an AI citation. What a good placement does is put an accurate, dated, third-party source where assistants look.
Verification: every price, platform list and claim below was read from the vendor’s own website on November 2, 2026. Prices change; re-check the linked page before you buy. No vendor paid for inclusion, and no affiliate links are used.

The four categories of AI visibility solution

When buyers search for “AI visibility tools” or “GEO agencies” they get lists that mix software with services and never say so. The distinction matters because each category changes a different thing. A monitoring tool changes what you know. An agency changes your content and technical setup. A sponsored-content platform buys clicks from a publisher’s audience. A placement service puts an article about you on a third-party site. Only the last two create new sources for AI assistants to read, and they do it on different terms.

Figure 1. The four categories do different jobs. Most brands need one from the left column and one from the right half.

This is also why a page claiming to list “top solutions” and naming only itself is not a comparison. The right question is which category you are missing, and only then which vendor in that category.

How we evaluated the vendors

We scored nothing on vibes. Each vendor was placed in a category and checked on the same six questions, using only its own website or a dated primary source:

  1. Category fit. What the product changes: knowledge, content, traffic or sources.
  2. AI platforms covered. The answer engines named on the vendor’s pricing or product page, with add-ons flagged separately.
  3. Pricing transparency. “Public” only if a dollar figure appears on the vendor’s site. Where a vendor’s own pages disagree, we say so rather than pick one.
  4. Proof. Whether named clients and results exist, and the fact that all of them are vendor- or partner-reported.
  5. What you pay for. Prompts, credits, clicks, impressions, retainers or placements.
  6. Who it suits. Inferred from entry price and the customers the vendor names.

Viral Spike Marketing appears in one category only, PR placement services, because that is the service we sell. We have no monitoring software and no CPC network, so we do not rank ourselves against tools we do not compete with. Our guide to AI visibility tools and metrics covers how to measure; this article covers what to buy.

AI visibility monitoring platforms compared

Monitoring platforms run a set of prompts against ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and the rest on a schedule, then report whether you are mentioned, how you are described, and which sources were cited. In 2026 this is a mature, crowded category with public pricing, which makes it the easy half of the decision.

Platform Entry price (public) AI engines named by vendor What you pay for Best fit
Peec AI $95/mo Starter (50 prompts, 3 models); $245 Pro; $495 Advanced; Enterprise custom ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini, Naver AI; Perplexity and Claude on Enterprise/add-on Prompts and projects SMB to mid-market teams and agencies
Otterly.AI $29/mo Lite (15 prompts); $189 Standard; $489 Premium; the pricing page also shows a lower set ($25/$160/$422) ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot; Claude, AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons Prompts; engine add-ons $9–$439/mo Solo marketers and small teams; also sold inside Semrush App Center
Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit $99/mo per domain; no free trial (from Semrush’s knowledge base; main pricing page could not be verified) ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini named on the KB page Per domain Teams already paying for Semrush
Ahrefs Brand Radar AI add-on from $199/mo; custom prompt packs $50 (2,500 checks), $100, $250/mo AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot; Claude via custom prompts (8 checks per update) Checks; a pre-collected index of 525M+ prompts Research-heavy teams and Ahrefs users
Profound 7-day free trial (50 prompts/day); Enterprise custom, not public Up to 9: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, AI Overviews, Exa Enterprise contract Fortune-500 and large brands (claims a third of the Fortune 100)
Scrunch AI $250/mo Starter and $417 Growth on annual billing ($300/$500 monthly); Enterprise custom ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Meta Plan tier; adds AI-traffic conversion (“AXP”) Mid-market
Athena HQ Free Essential (300 credits); $295/mo Starter (3,600 credits, 11 models); Enterprise custom ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot, AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI, Mistral Credits Growth teams wanting a free start
Rankscale $17/mo Essentials (yearly only); $99 Pro; $229 Pro+; $385 Growth; $780 Enterprise 17+ engines incl. ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Gemini, DeepSeek, Mistral, Claude, Copilot Credits Budget buyers and agencies with many clients
Goodie AI $295/mo Core (5 models, 110 prompts); $999 Pro; Enterprise not public 5 to 14 models by tier Prompts and models; adds revenue attribution Revenue-focused brands
Evertune Not public 9 models named Enterprise contract; adds panel insights and ads in AI chats Enterprise
Bluefish AI Not public (demo only) “10+ LLMs tracked daily” Enterprise suites Enterprise
Where monitoring tools are strong

  • Cheap, fast proof of whether you appear on category prompts
  • Cited-source reports show which domains to influence
  • Trend lines month to month, which no agency report replaces
Where they stop

  • They measure; they do not create the coverage assistants cite
  • Prompt quotas are small at entry tiers (15 to 50 prompts)
  • Engine coverage varies: Claude and AI Mode are often add-ons

Our read. For a company with one brand and under ten competitors, Peec AI, Otterly or Athena HQ’s free tier covers the measurement job for less than a dinner out. Pick on which engines matter to your buyers, since Claude and Google AI Mode are the ones most often sold separately. Profound, Evertune and Bluefish are enterprise products with enterprise sales cycles. If you want to do it by hand first, our 12-prompt audit method is free, and we will run it for you through our free AI visibility audit.

GEO and AEO agencies compared

Agencies selling generative engine optimization do the work the tools only report on: rewriting pages so they answer questions directly, adding structured data, fixing crawler access, producing research that other sites cite, and in some cases running digital PR. The trade-off is cost and opacity. Of the four firms with a dedicated GEO service page, one publishes a price.

Agency What the GEO service includes (per the vendor) Public pricing Best fit
iPullRank GEO tiers (Emerging, Growth, Elite), a six-month “AI Search Strategy Program”, “relevance engineering”; listed as a Profound partner Not public Enterprise and technical SEO-led organizations
Siege Media Research reports and digital PR, bottom-of-funnel content, disclosed Reddit presence, affiliate placements, freshness updates, monthly LLM share-of-voice reporting; states a 6+ month horizon Not public Mid-market and enterprise SaaS
Omniscient Digital AEO strategy and execution for B2B “Full-service engagements start at $120,000/year” B2B SaaS with enterprise budgets
FINN Partners GEO Starter, Growth and Enterprise monthly packages combining digital PR, structured data and dashboards Not public Corporate and multinational PR clients

Our read. An agency retainer is the right buy when the problem is your own site: thin pages, no structured data, blocked crawlers, no original research. It is the wrong first buy when the problem is that assistants have nothing third-party to cite about you, which is the most common finding in audits of small and mid-sized brands. Read what GEO actually involves before signing a six-month contract, and ask any agency which named sources its work has produced for a client.

Linkby and pay-per-click sponsored-content platforms

Linkby markets itself as the top solution for AI visibility, so it deserves a careful description of what it is. Linkby is a performance-PR marketplace. A brand writes a brief and sets a cost per click; participating publishers claim the brief first-come-first-served, write the article in their own voice, and earn the CPC for every reader who clicks through to the brand’s site. A second product, Pubfeed, sells content distribution on a CPM basis.

Verified from Linkby’s own pages and a July 2025 funding report:

  • Pricing. No subscription or sign-up fee; the platform CPC floor is $1. Linkby’s product page recommends $2 (it also says $1.50 in another place); its support article recommends $2 to $5 for the US market. Each publisher sets a “Minimum Allocated Budget” of $2,500 to $10,000 that caps what it can earn from your brief, and the pricing page describes budgets “from $2,500 to $1 million+”. Pubfeed CPMs average from $35 with budgets from $10,000.
  • Disclosure. Linkby does not promise a “sponsored” label. It recommends that publishers add a note similar to affiliate disclosures (“We may receive commission or revenue when you click the links…”) and makes publishers responsible for regional advertising-compliance rules. Asked by AdExchanger whether this is sponsored content, the CEO said it “depends on people’s definition.”
  • Control. Publishers decide whether to pick up a brief and what angle to take; a brief can go unclaimed.
  • Scale and audience. Founded in Australia in 2020; raised a $15 million Series B in 2025; named publishers are lifestyle and news titles (Refinery29, Marie Claire, BuzzFeed, The Independent, Daily Mail, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar); named customers are direct-to-consumer brands (Monica Vinader, Modibodi, Anastasia Beverly Hills). The only publisher count we could find is “270+” from a 2022 partner post; Linkby’s current pages give no number.

Those facts put Linkby in the sponsored-content category, with the mechanics of affiliate marketing. That is not a criticism of the product. For a consumer brand that wants qualified traffic from fashion and lifestyle titles and only wants to pay when a reader clicks, it is a sensible buy. It is a poor fit for the AI visibility problem as most businesses experience it, for three reasons:

  1. You are buying clicks, not a source. The article exists to send traffic. Its value as a durable, citable reference about your company (founding, leadership, what you do, who you serve) is incidental, and the publisher’s angle is not yours to set.
  2. The audience is consumer retail. Law firms, medical practices, B2B services, artists, public figures and local businesses are not what the publisher list is built for.
  3. The spend is open-ended. CPC with $2,500-plus publisher budget caps means your cost is set by reader behavior, and a brief that no publisher claims produces nothing.

Linkby alternatives, by what you actually need

You need traffic from lifestyle publishersAffiliate networks and content partnerships through Awin, Rakuten or Webgains do the same job at similar economics; Linkby itself integrates with them. Linkby is a reasonable choice here.
You need to know where you stand in AI answersAny monitoring platform above. Peec AI or Otterly for small teams; Ahrefs Brand Radar if you want the large pre-collected prompt index.
You need accurate third-party articles about your companyA PR placement service: a written feature on a named outlet, with your facts in it, that stays indexed. This is what Viral Spike’s guaranteed press placements are, and what a retained PR firm pitches for.
You need your own site fixed for AI retrievalA GEO agency, or an SEO team working from the AI Overviews and AI Mode guidance.

PR placement services, including Viral Spike

The fourth category is older than AI search: paying to have an article about your company written and published on a third-party outlet, or retaining a PR firm to pitch one. This is where disclosure, editorial control and permanence vary most between vendors, and buyers should ask direct questions.

Question to ask Why it matters for AI visibility Viral Spike Marketing’s answer
Is the placement guaranteed, or pitched? A pitch can produce nothing; a guaranteed placement is a known source on a known date Guaranteed on the named outlet or a full refund, in writing before work starts
Is it a full written feature or a link insertion? Assistants describe you from article text; a link in someone else’s story carries almost nothing about you Full featured articles, with your facts and positioning
Is it indexed and permanent? An article that drops out of the index cannot be retrieved or cited Indexed on Google; placements are permanent on the outlet
How is it disclosed? Disclosure rules apply to paid arrangements; ask how each outlet handles it rather than assume Varies by outlet; we tell you before you buy. See our guide to sponsored content versus editorial coverage
How many outlets, and which? Breadth matters because different assistants weight different sources 1,600+ outlets, listed on our publications page
Who is it for? Publisher fit decides whether the article reads as a credible reference for your category Businesses, professionals, public figures, artists and brands nationwide; not limited to consumer retail
How is it priced? Per-placement pricing is predictable; CPC and retainers are not Fixed quote per placement, no clicks or retainers; card payments carry a 3% fee, other methods none

Two honest limits. First, a paid placement is paid: it should be disclosed where the outlet’s policy and the law require, and we do not call it independently earned editorial. Second, no placement guarantees that ChatGPT or Perplexity will cite it on a given day, because retrieval is the platform’s decision. What the placement reliably does is put correct, dated facts about your company on an authoritative third-party domain, which is the kind of source assistants prefer and the kind that shows up in the cited-URL column of later audits. Our guide to how ChatGPT and Perplexity choose sources covers the mechanics.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an AI visibility tool and a GEO agency?

A tool measures whether and how AI assistants mention you; an agency changes your content, technical setup and sometimes your coverage so that they do. Tools cost $17 to $500 a month and publish prices; agencies mostly quote privately, and the one public figure we found starts at $120,000 a year.

Is Linkby sponsored content?

Linkby is a pay-per-click arrangement between a brand and a publisher. The company does not promise a “sponsored” label; it recommends an affiliate-style disclosure and leaves compliance to the publisher, and its CEO has said the answer “depends on people’s definition.” Treat it as paid, disclosed content and plan accordingly.

What is the cheapest way to check my AI visibility?

Run the 12-prompt audit yourself in logged-out sessions across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Mode, and log every cited URL. It takes about two hours a month. Otterly Lite at $29 a month and Athena HQ’s free tier are the lowest-cost automated options we verified.

Do paid press placements help AI visibility?

They create third-party sources with your facts in them, which is what assistants retrieve and summarize. They do not guarantee a citation on any given prompt. The useful test is whether the placed article appears in the cited-sources column of your next audit.

Which AI platforms should I track first?

ChatGPT and Google’s AI features (AI Overviews and AI Mode) reach the most buyers; Perplexity cites sources most transparently, which makes it the best diagnostic. Claude and Copilot matter more for B2B. Check which engines are included at the tier you are buying, since Claude and AI Mode are frequently add-ons.

How often should I re-run a comparison like this?

Quarterly. Every vendor in this guide changed pricing or platform coverage at least once in the twelve months before we checked, and two of them show conflicting prices on their own pages today.

What to do next

Measure first, then fix the sources. If you want the measurement done for you, request a free AI visibility audit: we run the 12 prompts across five assistants, score every answer and send you the scorecard with the sources to fix first. If you already know you are missing from category answers, our AI visibility and GEO service combines source building with the placements that put your facts where assistants look.
