Reputation Management Pricing: What It Costs, Priced by Problem

Reputation management costs between $100 and $10,000 per month for 72% of businesses, according to WebFX’s 2026 pricing research, and the spread exists because the price follows the problem, not the size of the company. A single negative article, a cluster of bad reviews, a mugshot, an executive rebrand and a brand-wide crisis are different jobs with different timelines and labor. Viral Spike Marketing prices each from a free written assessment: a fixed quote, deliverables, timeline and refund terms in writing before you pay, and anything not delivered as written is refunded in full.

  • Fixed quote in writing, before payment

Priced by problem

How much does reputation management cost for each problem type?

Where no published industry figure exists, we say so rather than invent one.

Problem type Typical approach Typical timeline Price
Single negative article Publisher outreach, then suppression if that fails Weeks to months for outreach; two to six months for suppression (Search Engine Land, July 2026) Quoted in writing after a free assessment; project plus per-placement
Cluster of bad reviews Review-by-review assessment, policy-matched reports and appeals, owner responses, compliant review generation Days per flag; months to shift the average Industry range $151 to $5,000 per location (WebFX); removal work quoted from the assessment and paid upfront
Mugshot or arrest record Takedown requests, Google removal tools, suppression of aggregators Fast where the record changed; two to six months for suppression Quoted in writing after a free assessment; priced as a project because the target list is finite
Executive or founder rebrand Audit, targeted suppression, sustained authority program Six months to a year or longer (Forbes Communications Council, Sept 2025) Quoted in writing after a free assessment; retainer plus per-placement
Brand-wide crisis Monitoring, holding statements, media relations, review and social response, then a search and AI rebuild Days for the acute phase; six months to a year for the rebuild Quoted in writing after a free assessment; staffing-driven retainer

If your situation spans two categories, expect the higher category’s timeline. Full breakdown in how much reputation management costs.

Cost drivers

Why do reputation management quotes vary so much?

Two vendors quoting the same problem can land far apart because one is pricing monitoring software and response templates and the other a staffed suppression campaign with editorial placements. Four variables explain most of the difference.

  • Authority of the negative result. Outranking a major news domain requires assets on domains of comparable strength, which cost more than profiles and blog posts.
  • Breadth of the problem. One Google query is one problem. Google plus Bing plus what ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity say about you is a broader one.
  • Volume of new content. Enough strong pages must fill the results above the negative; a blank footprint needs more of them.
  • Duration of maintenance. Rankings can rebound when work stops; quotes that include maintenance look higher up front and cheaper over two years.

Process

How does the quote work?

  1. Send the queries and links

The exact name or brand search that is hurting you and every URL you have found. We reply by email within one business day.

  2. Free written assessment

Each result marked removable, arguable or not removable, with the route named. Removal is separated from suppression in the quote, because suppression is where the budget goes.

  3. Fixed quote and terms

Deliverables, named outlets, timeline, refund terms and one fixed price in writing. Card payments carry a 3% fee; other methods carry no fee. Nothing is billed until you approve.

  4. Delivered as written, or refunded

The reviews and results we take on are removed or refunded in full; placements publish and index or are refunded in full. Movement is measured from your audit baseline and reported monthly.

Plain terms

What is refunded, and what the price includes

  • Refunded in full: any review or result we took on that is not removed; any placement that does not publish and index; any asset in the scope not delivered.
  • Charged only for items with a basis: we take on the reviews and results the assessment marks as having a policy basis, and you pay only for those.
  • Attorney fees billed separately: expungement, sealing or defamation work is handled by your attorney. We coordinate with them and handle the visibility side.
  • Rankings reported monthly: the assets and placements are guaranteed published or refunded, and ranking movement is measured from your audit baseline and reported every month.
  • Never sold: fake reviews, Wikipedia edits, or payment to a mugshot publisher.

FAQ

Reputation management pricing questions

How much does reputation management cost?

WebFX’s 2026 research puts it at $100 to $10,000 per month for 72% of businesses, and $151 to $5,000 per location for review-focused work. Everything above the low end is explained by scope: how many negative results, their authority, how many surfaces repeat them, and how much new material must exist before the page changes.

How much does it cost to remove a mugshot?

It is quoted in writing after the assessment, because the price depends on the number of republishing sites, whether the legal record supports removal, and whether suppression is needed. Mugshot cases are usually priced as a project because the target list is finite. Takedowns can be quick when the record has changed; suppression of aggregator pages takes two to six months.

Is reputation management worth it?

Page one is the interview you never attend: customers, employers, partners and journalists form a view there, and AI assistants summarize the same sources. The cost of doing nothing is usually the larger number, and because every deliverable is guaranteed or refunded, the risk sits with us.

Is it a monthly fee or a one-time cost?

Both. Review management, crisis response and executive programs are usually monthly retainers because the work continues. Finite tasks such as removing a set of mugshot pages are priced as projects, and editorial placements per placement. Many campaigns combine the two.

How much does it cost to remove a negative article from Google?

There is no fixed price because removal is rarely a purchase: publishers unpublish only in limited circumstances, and Google removes only specific categories of content. Most budgets go to suppression, which takes two to six months, with cost driven by the authority of the article’s domain and how many stronger assets must outrank it.

Can I do some of this myself to save money?

Yes. You can claim profiles, publish on your own site, respond to reviews and flag policy violations. What is hard to do alone is place content on domains strong enough to outrank a major outlet and sustain it for months. See reputation management and review removal for what each service includes.
